This week in Second-grade students partook in their summative assessment for the unit: How We Organise Ourselves. Students have been focusing on following directions in class and the importance of codes of behavior. The central idea states,”following directions helps keep us safe and organized.” To show their understanding of the central idea, they got to become AIS Community Helpers (mini inspectors) for recess. Here they were able to analyze first hand what is going on during recess time and how to solve problems as well as recognize good behaviors. Students got to wear special yellow vests and took notes while on duty. They came back with a much deeper understanding of the importance of rules and the role that the inspectors play in our school community to help keep us safe and organized!
